I grew up in a Christian home with parents who faithfully served the Lord. My Dad was the best soul winner I have ever known. He was always telling others about Jesus, and always had Gospel tracts in his pocket. In fact, instead of bed time stories, my dad would read gospel tracts to me when I was a child. When I was very young, my parents would often take me to downtown Augusta and hand out Gospel tracts to people on the street. They wanted me to understand at a young age the importance of winning souls for Christ.
When I was 4 years old, the Lord began convicting me about salvation, but I did not yet have enough understanding to accept Jesus as my Savior. I remember being in junior church and someone taking me aside with other children into a small room and telling us about Jesus and how He died on a cross for our sins, and he prayed a prayer with us. I remember as soon as I prayed that prayer I knew I had not received what that man had. At the tender age of 4, I began to look for Christ as best as a 4 year old could.
When I was 5 Christ found me. I was riding home with my dad when the Holy Ghost convicted me of my sins and I immediately prayed, confessing my sins and asking Jesus to save me. And He did. After I was done praying, I told my dad I just got saved.
A few years later, I was eight years old and I was again with my dad and he was telling me about Charles Spurgeon and the wonderful work he did in England, and how that England had fallen away from God, it was then that the Lord called me to the mission field of England.
At 11 years old, a drunk driver killed my dad. I have since learned about the difficulties growing up without a father, and the responsibilities the church has to the fatherless.
At 12, the Lord convicted me of the need to publicly profess my call, and after a few months of struggling with the Lord, I finally surrendered to him.
In 9th grade, I went from the public school to the Christian school and it was a wonderful blessing for me.
During my senior year of high school, I began to attend Bible College in the second semester. I enrolled in Victory Baptist Bible College in North Augusta South Carolina. It was a Bible College that emphasized the local church first, and every subsequent class was either about Leadership, the Bible, Preaching, or Pastoring. I attended all four years and I received a degree in Pastoral Theology.
During Bible College, I was involved in various ministry opportunities. These areas included teaching a Sunday school class, junior church, jail preaching, Wednesday night with the teens, youth choir, soul winning on Saturdays, and driving the bus for the mission when they needed me. I served all these ministries faithfully every week throughout Bible College.
After I graduated from Bible College, I realized I was still immature and inexperienced. So I began an internship at Calvary Baptist Church in Lexington South Carolina. Pastor Steve Cummins began a process of discipling me. Since then, Calvary Baptist Church has become my sending Church and I am currently on deputation.
